Slovakia can become an innovative power from an assembly workshop, the state must take the initiative
9.11.2021 (Webnoviny.sk) – Innovation as the main tool of economic development was one of the programs of the international congress ITAPA 2021, which lasts in Bratislava from Monday to Wednesday. The participants of the largest domestic event on digitization and technology on Tuesday also discussed what Slovakia has a chance to become from the assembly workshop of an innovative power, as Israel, for example.
Successful global Slovak companies that it is possible to innovate in Slovakia as well, although it is lagging behind in this area and it is not easy.
Important cooperation of companies abroad
“Conditions for innovation in Slovakia are not suitable. Other small countries seized the opportunities and jumped on the trend of innovation, “said Stanislav Chlepko from the Bratislava company Nexineo. He cited Israel, which has become a technology giant and innovation leader. “I can build on the experience in Israel, there with young people in primary schools. If we want to reach the level of a global innovation network, we need to start with young people. It will take some time, it cannot be done in four or five years, “thinks Chlepko. He added that it is possible if the right approach to children is built.
Innovative strategist Ján Uriga noted that one thing is to prepare for youth innovation and then work with the concept of so-called open innovation. According to the expert, our company will provide you with other companies abroad, and the combination of know-how can be beneficial for the correct aggregation of these things. “Well, it’s still true that one big idea consists of three to five smaller ones. So let’s move these things in and accelerate them, “Uriga said. He also pointed out that Slovakia is a small country, so it was very dangerous to try to be great in everything.
Innovators need support
Martina Antošová from Martin University Hospital and a counselor at the Ministry of Health think that people who want to innovate support. “Perhaps there is a pre-bureaucratic system for some applications, permits. It’s not quite happy, because medicine is a very specific area that, in addition to regulating business needs, needs to take into account other innovations, “she said, mentioning the protection of patients’ personal data.
According to Antošová, Slovak scientists have potential, they just need to feel support. “It is necessary to pull the leader out of Slovak science and inspire others to devote themselves, not to run research abroad and to show that we have and know how to move here as well,” added Antošová. Accordingly, the state should understand that research and innovation are the foundation of a healthy economy, we should have strong support if we do not want to be just a production workshop.
The state was to take the initiative
Talent is absolutely key and there is a large number of interesting people in Slovakia, said Michal Kardoš, Executive Director of the Slovak Association for Innovative Economics. According to him, the support is very fragmented, companies do not get information about where they can go, what are the opportunities for innovative companies.
“There are many good examples of companies that have obtained certificates at the level of the European Commission. You set up better processes than a company brand. It is also a big task for the state, it should take a major initiative in that, “Kardoš remarked. According to him, the conditions for scientists have a fundamental influence on where Slovak innovation can be. “I am optimistic, I believe there is crucial room for improvement or what we can do, but it is also about cooperation and joint efforts,” he added.
