San Marino, the first medals at the Olympics become a book
The first Olympic medals in the sports history of the Republic arrived in Tokyo: a publication celebrates them
If for Italy 2021 was a sporty dream year, for San Marino it was even historic, with the first ever medals at the Olympics of a five-circle movement that has just passed 60 years of life. A summer that never ends and that is now told in a book, “The athletes who made the enterprise”, written by Massimo Boccucci, communication manager of the San Marino National Olympic Committee, and Lorenzo Giardi, correspondent for the radio and television broadcaster of San Marino State Rtv.

The book was presented at the Concordia Theater in Borgo Maggiore, immediately after the audience with the Regency in Palazzo Pubblico. It tells the story of 18 historic days of San Marino sport, those of the Tokyo Olympics and those unforgettable medals for a nation of just over 33,000 inhabitants capable of competing sportingly with the greats. With Boccucci and Giardi to present the book was Alessandra Perilli, who in skeet shooting won the bronze in history as the first ever Olympic medal for San Marino, then replicated with Perilli’s silver in the team trial and with the bronze by Myles Nazem Amine Mularoni in free wrestling. With them also the Secretary of State for Sport Teodoro Lonfernini, Barbara Bollini Captain of Castello di Borgo Maggiore, Gian Primo Giardi president of the San Marino National Olympic Committee and the publisher Roberto Mugavero. The party was also virtually attended by Mularoni and the two Azzurri Gianmarco Tamberi, gold in the high jump that was a guest two years ago, and Gregorio Paltrinieri.
