Rome, Felix renounces the call with Ghana: this is the reason
ROME – “Flattered, but no thanks for the moment. Better wait.” like this Felix Afena-Gyan he asked not to answer the call from his national team. The eighteen-year-old had been summoned by Ghana for the next November engagements. This season he had risen in the Primavera after the parenthesis in the under 18, but after a few weeks in which he had scored 5 goals in six games Mourinho has decided to call him among the grandi, making him debut in the match against Cagliari and giving him a few minutes even against the Milan. The seventy-seven minutes were enough for the Ghanaian national team to decide to call him.
But Felix has decided to refuse the summons. The reason? Great humility and a head on his shoulders. The boy does not yet feel psychologically ready and will face a call-up to the national team at only eight years and with only two pieces of the match among the professionals: to leave with his national team for the last two valid commitments for qualification for the next World Cup it seemed too much. The boy contacted the Ghanaian federation and asked to be allowed to stay in Italy, still unable to take the pressure of a call from the national team. In the future, he hopes to be able to deserve a call-up, but at the moment Felix preferred to stay in Trigoria for work quietly with Mourinho, deserve the chance to stay in the first team and continue his growth path.
