Rema 1000 introduces corona passports for 1,000 employees in Denmark – E24
Employees at the central warehouse in Horsens in Denmark must have a valid corona passport to get to work.
Rema 1000 introduces corona passport after ten employees have been confirmed infected at the central warehouse in Horsens, writes Danish TV 2.
– We believe that it is best that we all take care of each other, by introducing this measure, we ensure that the infection does not spread further, says Jonas Schrøder, communications manager at Rema 1000 to the channel.
– We have only supported it, he continues.
The chain has been evaluating the measure for a few days, according to Schrøder. It was introduced this weekend.
This applies to 1000 employees who work in the warehouse, in the canteen and administrative staff, the channel writes.
Not a vaccine requirement
Schrøder supports that there are several ways to get a valid corona passport and that this is not a requirement for vaccination.
– This is a large workplace, and the infection can spread quickly, says Schrøder to the channel.
The chain has not introduced corona passport requirements in the store, as they do not experience infection there, according to the communications manager.
Similar initiatives have not been assessed in Norway, says Hanne Knudsen, head of communications at Rema 1000.
– We comply with current guidelines and regulations from the Norwegian authorities, when it comes to infection control measures, so it will be leading, she writes in an SMS.
– In addition to efficient operation during the pandemic, our focus has been on ensuring a safe working environment for ours and a safe shopping experience for our customers, in line with local guidelines and national guidelines, she continues.
The infection is rising
The infection has increased significantly in Denmark, the Danish Minister of Health, Magnus Heunicke, wrote on Twitter on Monday. He attached a video of the development from October 11 to early November.
The number of inpatients at the hospital has tripled in one month, according to VG. Heunicke writes on Twitter that 370 people have been hospitalized in the last week.
The government of the country will now reintroduce the corona passport, and declare covid-19 a socially critical disease again on Monday.
In September, Denmark was reopened, and all restrictions removed. Then they also stopped categorizing corona as a socially critical disease, according to VG.
