Covid-19: update on the epidemic in Monaco at the start of the school year
In Monaco, the incidence rate of the epidemic linked to Covid-19 dropped slightly last week, during the second part of the All Saints holidays. The latter went from 70 to 54 per 100,000 inhabitants, but with a lower number of tests carried out: 3250 against more than 3800. Yesterday, two new positive cases were recorded. The Principality of Monaco now has 8 patients hospitalized for coronavirus and 19 are monitored remotely by the health authorities.
About vaccination
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) recently approved the administration of an additional dose of Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine against Covid-19. This booster dose makes it possible to reinforce the vaccine efficacy, the immunity of which may decrease from the 6th month after the complete vaccination (two doses).
In this context, the Prince’s Government insists on this fact and encourages vaccinated people, in particular those residing in Monaco, aged 65 or over and health professionals to go for this third dose of vaccine.
Wearing a mask in schools
Since Monday, wearing a mask has become compulsory again for schoolchildren aged 5 to 11 in schools located in 39 departments in France where the incidence rate has exceeded the threshold of 50 per 100,000 inhabitants. In Monaco, wearing a mask is not compulsory during physical education and sports (EPS) lessons for all students, all classes combined, both indoors and outdoors. On the other hand, for lessons or other school activities indoors, everyone must wear a mask.
