Cleaning work for the continuation of the Trammino cycle path in Pisa
Work has begun on the drafting of the extension of the Ciclopista del Trammino from Marina di Pisa to Bagno Lido in Tirrenia. Pisamo coordinated an initial cleaning work on the new section that goes from the Marina Station to the intersection with Via Bigattiera in Tirrenia, following the path surrounded by greenery that develops along the tramway sediment. At the same time, the tender procedures managed by Pisamo are underway in order to arrive quickly, by the end of the year, for the assignment of the works.
“This new work, which will be ready by summer 2022 – declares the councilor for urban mobility Massimo Dringoli – allowed to unite, without interruption, the city of Pisa up to the inhabited area of Tirrenia, and by expanding the field, it will allow to close the entire north-south axis of the Tyrrhenian Cycle Path. It is an investment of 750 thousand euros completely by the administration to support a work appreciated by many of our fellow citizens who use it to reach the green that develops in total safety: an example of our commitment to invest in green infrastructures that are really changing to move around the territory and that fit in within our plan to create an adequately articulated and organized network of cycle paths, both as a strategic action of the Urban Sustainable Mobility Plan, and as an opportunity for tourism and environmental enhancement of the territory “.
The project
In detail, the extension of the path concerning the construction of a cycle path of 2,300 meters which is added to the 11 kilometers of cyclosta already completed and two stretches of iron stretch develop: a first recovering the land from the Marina station up to the intersection with Bigattiera and a second stretch that develops on the roadside in the carriageway towards the sea on via Bigattiera, up to the roundabout with viale del Tirreno. The first section consists of a corridor surrounded by greenery, in the immediate vicinity of the town, which has remained free from any obstacle along the way and is therefore ideal for continuing the development of the cycle path in complete safety.
The new cycle path will have technical characteristics similar to the sections already built, but modified due to the passage within the territory of the San Rossore Park: track width of 3 meters, ground made with stabilization on site of the earth with lime and cement with above semi-penetration treatment, closed by corten sheet. As already done in the previous construction site, the ferrous railway material will be removed and the concrete artifacts that accompanied the old tram line will be preserved, such as electrification poles, docks and any barriers. Keep a similar type of cycle path also along the Bigattiera stretch until you reach Viale del Tirreno, at the height of Bagno Lido, the only difference being that this last stretch, always 3 meters wide, will occupy part of the road quay with a curb separation from the road.
