Brazil’s Senate and Chamber of Deputies debate agribusiness in Lisbon
OOrganized by the Committees on Foreign Relations and National Defense (CRE) of the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, the seminar will have, among others, the operations of the presidents of these two bodies, but also of senator Rodrigo Pacheco, president of the Federal Senate and the National Congress of Brazil and Deputy Arthur Lira, president of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil.
The meeting includes the participation of other heads of Brazilian and international entities, such as ambassador Augusto Pestana, president of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency – APEX-Brasil, Celso Moretti, president of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation – Embrapa , or Maximo Torero, chief economist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The seminar also includes the participation of entities from the financial sector, such as Marcos Troyjo, president of the New Development Bank – NBD (BRICS Bank) and Roberto Campos Neto, president of the Central Bank of Brazil, as well as representatives of sectorial associations and confederations Brazilian companies.
On the 11th, the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), of which Brazil is a member state, will be marked, with a message from the current UN secretary general, António Guterres, prime minister Portuguese when the organization was created, refer to the event’s agenda note.
The presidents of the National Congress, Rodrigo Pacheco, and the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, Arthur Lira, as well as Gilmar Ferreira Mendes, of the Brazilian Supreme Court, were present at the ceremony.
Also confirmed is the participation of the president of the National Popular Assembly of Guinea-Bissau, Cipriano Cassamá, who now also chairs the Parliamentary Assembly of the CPLP.
The special guest is José Fernando Aparecido de Oliveira, son of José Aparecido de Oliveira, one of the founders of CPLP, who will present the honor plaque for the 25th anniversary of the organization.
At the end of the day, the publication “Panorama of Brazil’s contribution to the dissemination of Portuguese” will be launched, with contributions from writers, artists and intellectuals on the importance of Brazilian culture in their training “as artisans of literary production in the Portuguese language”.
On Friday, the program focuses on the debate on “Sustainable Agribusiness in Brazil” and the agro-environmental potential of Brazilian agriculture, one of the pillars of the “green economy”.
Parallel to the seminar, there will be an exhibition on the ‘Creative Economy’ of the Amazon, with artistic, cultural and gastronomic manifestations related to the region of Brazil.
