Venice, the complaint from Uilpa: “Tension in Santa Maria Maggiore due to prisoners’ protest”
The Uilpa union denounces an episode of protest by the detainees – who encountered tension in the Venetian prison, where Uilpa reported on Sunday evening – two held, the cots like a ram, havel of the gate of their own custody room, of which they had previously had every furniture , and they took possession of the detention section, flooding it and smearing the walls with blood.
Three hours of chaos
Only after 3 hours were order and security restored and the situation returned to calm. One of the inspectors who intervened – adds the general secretary Uilpa, Gennarino De Fazio – reported a slight cut in one hand obtained with a razor blade in the possession of one of the rioters. In prisons, by now, we are dealing with scenes of ordinary violence. The Penitentiary Police – notes the union – underpowered in the workforce and practically lacking in adequate equipment.
