Vaucluse: a man found stabbed and slaughtered in his apartment in Avignon
The body of a man without history, stabbed and slaughtered, without any apparent motive, was found in the Reine-Jeanne district of Avignon (Vaucluse), this Saturday.
A 57-year-old man was found dead in his apartment in Avignon (Vaucluse) this Saturday morning. He was stabbed and slaughtered, report The Dauphiné Libéré. It was his employer who made this macabre discovery after being contacted by the wife of the fifty-something. Traveling in Spain, she was worried about not hearing from her husband.
The body was lying on the ground behind the door to the apartment, which was left open. No trace of a fight or evening between several people was noted on the spot. Which suggests that the man certainly opened up to his murderer and that the assault happened very quickly.
“No idea on the mobile”
The reasons for this crime remain a mystery to investigators. The fifty-year-old was not known to the police. “It is very surprising. For the moment, we have no idea on the mobile”, confides for his part a magistrate of the public prosecutor’s office.
The investigations are currently focusing on the victim’s personality, his entourage, his habits and on the neighborhood, who could have seen or heard something. The Avignon judicial police service was responsible for the investigation.
