In total, approximately 765,000 children should take the tests, ie approximately half of primary and secondary school pupils in the Czech Republic. From November 15, testing of unvaccinated pupils and students will continue in Prague and the 22 districts that joined the testing today.
Although the epidemic is growing and on Saturday the district of 300 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week was exceeded by 61 districts, others will no longer be included among those tested, the chief hygienist Pavla Svrčinová decided on Sunday. After November 15, the Ministry of Health does not plan to continue antigenic testing of students. According to Svrčinová and Deputy Minister of Health Martina Koziar Vašáková, these tests often do not detect asymptomatic infections, which children usually are.
Therefore, the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES) said last week that it is better to test the whole school in the outbreak, for example, by PCR method based on the decision of hygienists. According to Svrčinová, in the following period, hygienists want to test mainly pupils who have symptoms.
Unvaccinated pupils who refuse to be tested for covid and do not even have proof of illness in the last six months must wear roadside protection throughout their stay at school. The obligation also applies to the outdoor areas of schools, where it is not possible to keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters from the others.
