Bartolomey Bittmann
The duo was formed in 2012. Violinist Klemens Bittmann has always chosen a path close to the crossover. After classical studies at the University of Music and Entertainment in Graz, he studied jazz violin with Didier Lockwood in Paris. Collaboration with accordionist Klaus Paier, guitarists Alegre Correa and Wolfgang Muthspiel. and with Georg Gratzer he is instrumental in his career.
Cellist Matthias Bartolomey’s career is firmly anchored in Western classical music. Graduated from the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts and the Illustrious Mozarteum in Salzburg, he has collaborated with the Vienna State Opera / Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Orchestra chamber by Mahler. Since 2010 he has been the principal cellist of Concentus Musicus Wien, founded by Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
BartolomeyBittmann is a project felt by both musicians who collaborate and make albums with this lineup, despite their multiple commitments. Their first two releases, “Meridian” (2013) and “Neubau” (2015) demonstrate their innovative approach and originality. Numerous concerts that have seen them on major European stages but also in Russia, Iran, US, Kenya and Japan. With “Dynamo”, the new album released on March 29, 2019 on the ACT Music label (2019), Bartolomey Bittmann stabilize their personal stylistic code, making them distinguishable from the first notes of the disc.
“It’s really rare to hear string players with such a devotion to groove. BartolomeyBittmann are easily reaching the heart of musicians who are not generally associated with classical instruments: unbridled joy and extreme rhythm. “
