Prague – From today, you can see the virtual model of New Prague on the Moon or the concept of the LUNIAQ rover in the Virtuplex studio in Horní Počernice, Prague, during this year’s Czech Space Week. Representatives of the event and architect Tomáš Rousek introduced them to the journalists today.
“We wanted to inspire our society so that people could imagine how we could expand and one day live in places other than Earth. Technically, humanity is far enough away, so it’s basically just a question of transportation, our motivation and finances, “said Rousek.
The vision of the lunar base in the southern hemisphere of the Moon consists of prefabricated modules and buildings built on site from lunar dust using 3D printing technology. The residential modules are complemented by laboratories, production capacities, greenhouses, a solar farm and landing ramps. According to the architects, the individual modules are inspired by research and projects in which NASA and other space agencies participate.
Together with the model of New Prague on the Moon, it is possible to see the concept of the Czech lunar electric vehicle rover LUNIAQ, inspired by the design of Škoda cars, in Horní Počernice. The technical solution of the rover designed for up to four astronauts is based on the NASA MMSEV (multi-mission space exploration vehicle) platform and enables autonomous and remotely controlled operation. The energy source would be batteries and UltraFlex solar panels on the roof.
The tour is part of the Czech Space Week festival. It takes place from 5 to 14 November in Prague and Brno and its goal is to show the space successes in Europe in the Czech Republic and to get acquainted with the news in the field of space industry and science. The program also includes, for example, a visit to a space agency, lectures and a concert of melodies from sci-fi films.
