San Marino, Dante’s year: Maurizio Gobbi’s conference on Wednesday
The third to last conference – the sixth of eight – of the Year of Dante, organized by the Committee for the 700th anniversary of the death of the Supreme Poet and by the Dante Alighieri Society of San Marino, will be held on Wednesday 10 November at 9 pm at the Titano Theater. The review, studded with numerous parallel events, exhibitions and film screenings, proved this year as rich and heterogeneous as never before.
For the occasion, Professor Maurizio Gobbi, former professor of History and Philosophy at our high school and renowned popularizer and interpreter of Dante’s verses, will hold a lecture entitled “Dante’s life. An autobiographical journey through his works“. The story of Dante’s life will be reconstructed in an in-depth and original way, accompanied by multiple quotes from the Comedy and beyond.
An exhaustive biographical account, where historical sources alternate with triplets and various passages, rigorously paraphrased and commented on. The loves, friendships, studies, works in Latin and in the vernacular that have made Dante the greatest writer of all time will be narrated. A path from which emerges a great intellectual, scholar of all the knowledge of the time, an intransigent politician, who will personally pay for the love for the freedom of Florence, an opponent of the moral, civil and social corruption caused by the emerging bourgeois class. The story of a man who made his life an immortal work.
It will then be the turn of Professor Meris Monti, Wednesday 24 November, who in the conference “Light is given to you for good and malice and free will“Will explore the theme, dear to Dante, both from a civic and existential and eschatological point of view, of freedom, a” gift “for men and, as we will see – in a parallelism with the libertas bequeathed by the saint to the future Republic – to communities and states.
The cycle will close the concert evening on Wednesday 1 December, curated by Maestro Marco Capicchioni, “Dante in music. Composers inspired by the Poet“. The talented students of the Musical Institute will perform various pieces from the classical and contemporary repertoire, linked, by themes and suggestions, to the figure and work of Alighieri, thus celebrating the mass to music of the genius and imagination of the great Florentine poet.
Also in December there will be the presentation of the Dante Alighieri Association yearbook, “San Marino Identity”, which will be collected in a precious volume with numerous cultural contributions from the most varied sectors.
