Red Bull Salzburg: Switzerland nominates Köhn and Okoh
Vienna – Monday, November 8th, 2021, 9:10 am
Salzburg’s goalkeeper Philipp Köhn and central defender Bryan Okoh are part of the Swiss national team for the first time for the World Cup qualifiers in Italy (November 12) and Bulgaria (November 15).
The duo, like Kastriot Imeri, was nominated by Servette Geneva for the indisposed quartet Breel Embolo, Nico Elvedi, Christian Fassnacht and Gregor Kobel.
The 23-year-old Köhn, who was loaned to FC Wil last season, captured the place in the Salzburg goal this season. In 19 competitive games, the Swiss remained six times without conceding a goal and had to pull behind him a total of 15 times.
Central defender Bryan Okoh has only played one competitive game for the Salzburg professionals, in the 8-0 win in the ÖFB Cup in the second round against Kalsdorf, the 18-year-old completed 33 minutes in which the Texan scored a goal. Okoh, who works for FC Liefering in the Admiral 2nd League, has played 12 games in Austria’s second-highest division and two games in the Youth League this season.
At the “Nati”, the duo will meet Salzburg striker Noah Okafor, who was called up for the Swiss national team for the first time since June 2019.
