Prague wants to increase energy self-sufficiency in response to the sharp rise in electricity and gas prices – launches applications for entry into Prague’s solar power plants
The sharp rise in electricity and gas prices for citizens in the order of tens of percent, which has caused, among other things, the collapse of major energy providers, increases the urgency of strengthening energy self-sufficiency and renewables. Already in September, the capital decided to start preparations for the construction of Prague’s solar power plants, which will gradually consist of thousands of small decentralized sources of renewable electricity. The new city organization Prague Renewable Energy Community is therefore now starting to accept applications for participation in subsidy applications for the construction of photovoltaic power plants (PV) on Prague’s roofs. Interested parties can register on the website www.pripojdum.cz.
The metropolis continues to implement specific measures approved by the City Council. m of Prague within the Climate Plan of the Capital m of Prague by 2030. The construction of the Prague solar power plant on the roofs aims to strengthen energy self-sufficiency and thus maintain stable and sustainable energy prices and while maintaining efforts to reduce CO2.
“In recent weeks, we have witnessed a dramatic rise in energy prices, which will hit every household in the coming months – including Prague. The answer to the uncertainty associated with rising coal electricity prices is to accelerate the transition to renewable sources and thus increase the energy self-sufficiency of apartment buildings and households. “ says Petr Hlubuček, Deputy Mayor of m of Prague for the environment and infrastructure. “In addition, decentralized green resources are key to meeting the capital’s climate commitments and reducing CO 2 emissions2 overall improvement of the environment and quality of life in the capital, “ adds Deputy Hlubuček.
The newly established organization Prague Renewable Energy Community wants to use a number of subsidy programs, such as the Modernization Fund, New Green Savings and others to support the building of renewable sources. “Through the Community, we are opening a registration for those interested in joining the Prague solar power plant. We want to create the most advantageous conditions for building family and apartment buildings, homeowners’ associations, housing cooperatives, sole traders and small and medium-sized businesses for the construction of photovoltaic sources on roofs, “ Petr Hlubuček specifies.
The Prague Renewable Energy Community will provide advice, project assistance, preparation of applications for subsidies from the New Green to Savings programs or the Modernization Fund for those interested. It will also prepare the documents for the tender for the supplier of solar power plants, will operate the installed photovoltaic power plant (PV) under fixed contractual conditions, while the building owner will gain network savings on electricity supply costs from its own production and electricity consumption. The community will also ensure the transmission of unused electricity to another member of the community under mutually advantageous conditions, which will gradually create the climate of a responsible community of Praguers, which they themselves activate to protect the climate and air.
“Those interested can register on the website www.pripojdum.cz. For the initial registration, it is sufficient to state the addresses of the apartment or family house and the basic parameters, such as the number of floors, the number of housing units and the like. The theoretical potential of the installation will be automatically calculated on the website, including the basic investment, possible subsidies, savings and so on. After leaving contact with the interested parties, the employees of the Prague Renewable Energy Community will contact you regarding further personal meetings and specification of the project parameters. “ explains Jaroslav Klusák, Acting Director of the Prague Renewable Energy Community.
“The goal of the energy community is to involve in the construction of the Prague solar power plant not only the property of the city and city companies, but also Praguers as much as possible,” adds Deputy Petr Hlubuček.
In addition to the Prague Renewable Energy Community, the city company Technologie hl. Will also be involved in the project of building the Prague solar power plant. m of Prague (THMP), which should especially help accelerate the actual installation of photovoltaic sources.
“The technologies of the capital city of Prague have extensive practical experience in the Prague field. Not in two years, not in a year, but in a number of units of months there are qualified and experienced electrical designers, operational electricians and experienced workers for high-altitude work on roofs. There is nothing to prevent the first solar power plants on Prague’s roofs from starting to build immediately after the preparation and registration of projects from parties Of the Prague Renewable Energy Community, “ closes the Chairman of the Board of Directors of THMP Tomáš Jílek.
