Monaco player under observation in hospital
Victim of an involuntary blow from Alexandre Chassang during Monaco’s defeat at Bourg-en-Bresse, the rear (or winger) of Roca Team Armel Traoré will remain for 24 hours under observation at the hospital.
Weekly sale for Monaco! Heavily beaten by Olympiakos Piraeus in the Euroleague Friday (88-63), the Roca Team also lost Sunday in Betclic Elite on the floor of Bourg-en Bresse (88-63). A meeting where the Monegasques experienced a great fright in the middle of the last quarter, where they saw Armel Traoré, the 18-year-old full-back (or winger), fall to the ground after a violent shock with Alexandre Chassang. The player, who was bleeding from one ear, could not recover on his own and had to be helped by the physiotherapist and the doctor of his team to accompany him back to the locker room, because he could not maintain his balance. Armel Traoré suffers from a concussion and remains for 24 hours under observation at Bourg-en-Bresse hospital, the Monegasque club reported.
Two games for Monaco this week
After the match, Alexandre Chassang had a thought for the French U19 international, via Twitter: “ I would like to apologize to Armel Traoré for the blow that I unfortunately struck him. It’s a gambling action and it obviously wasn’t intentional. I wish a speedy recovery and the best for the rest of the season with AS Monaco Basket. The public of the Ekinox, meanwhile, had been a little less understood, whistling after this action which had earned Chassang an unsportsmanlike foul. This week, Monaco must play two matches, against Bayern Munich in the Euroleague on Friday, and against Cholet on Sunday in the Betclic Elite. It remains to be seen whether Armel Traoré, who is running at 2.6 points, 0.8 rebound and 0.2 passes on average in 5 minutes in the league, but has not played in the Euroleague.
