An album in great celebration conceived in Toulouse
News: Much of this album was composed in Toulouse, right?
Maxence: “Yes absolutely! With a duo of composers called Leos and Clément Libes. We met at the Zéniths that I opened for Bigflo and Oli two years ago. Of course, we played well. in terms of musical tastes and we started to work together “.
Doing the Zéniths in the first part of Bigflo and Oli, it’s not nothing, right?
M.: “Yeah, it was pretty crazy going all at once in front of thousands of people. It was pretty stressful but in the end, it’s very exciting. Once you get on stage, everything goes, and you realizes it’s the best job in the world. ”
Why did Maxense become Maxence?
You have slightly changed your stage name since Maxense has become Maxence … For what reasons?
M.: “I had chosen the pseudonym” Maxense “a few years ago, when I was doing things that were obviously mine, but which were a little more parodic, where there was more of the second degree. time, by the experience, by the confidence that I gained, and quite simply because I started to assume and to reveal a little more who I was, I said to myself that it was time to leave this character, at least on this project. Maxensse is not completely dead and maybe he will come back to other things where it’s less me. But there, for once, it’s me! ”
Youtuber, actor, singer … You are a jack of all trades. Is it important for you to do different things in your life?
M.: “I don’t think of it that way. Things come naturally. I have always acted with the wind; I always told myself that if I wanted to do something, I would try it and that if it was successful. , I continue! I am passionate about a lot of things, so I might as well assume them 100% and do them “.
An “uninhibited pop”
What do you need to express through music, Maxence?
M.: “A lot of my songs were written during the health crisis, in a pretty gloomy atmosphere. It was kind of therapy for me to write about things a little more solar and colorful. But generally speaking, I still have written in this same therapy process because these are things deep inside me. Naturally, it was done by singing them? ”
How would you describe your music?
M.: “If I really had to give a style, I would say electro-pop. Afterwards, I like the term uninhibited pop!”
“Meet in a small committee”
Does releasing an album with 13 songs still make sense?
M.: “For me, that has it! Already, as a singer, it remains very strong and symbolic to release an album. I thought it in a coherence, with a whole universe around, in particular visual and I found it nice and important to crystallize all this through an album “.
And on stage, what does a Maxence show look like?
M.: “There are two of us on stage with Martin, the musician who has been with me from the start. On this mini-tour, we will play in relatively small rooms. So there will be this convivial, warm, quasi-conference aspect … Being able to discuss and meet in small groups, that’s the idea! “
