The Prague 10 district has increased the number of collection containers for used oils
Since October, there have been new containers for collecting vegetable oils from households at Ten. In October, another thirty-two were added to the ten containers that were already on the territory of the city district. By sorting oils instead of pouring them, citizens can prevent clogging of their own water pipes as well as problems in the public sewerage network, reduce wastewater pollution or save natural resources.
Residents of the tenth district can use the container since September 2019, when the town hall placed the first ten across its territory. “Until now, this service has only been available in the city districts that provide it on their own initiative, and the Ten is one of them. We have now used the offer of the Prague City Hall and selected another 32 places for the location of collection containers. They were then at the sorted waste sites during October, ” says Deputy Mayor Jana Komrsková (Pirates), who is responsible for the environment.
TIP: Over 3,500 oil collection points throughout the Czech Republic can be found on the project map KAMsNIM.cz
“In two years, we managed to get five liters of oils, which were recycled after cleaning. Now the quantity should increase significantly, “ Mayor Komrsková and the place explains: ,, It is possible to sort food oils, solid fats, oil from frying and pickled foods. The correct procedure is to cool the oil spilled to make PET bottles. It is ideal to gradually fill it in its entirety, and then throw it in a collecting container that is tightly closed. The container certainly does not include technical oils and lubricants, nor oils in glass bottles. “
Citizens know the collection containers by their purple lid with a circular insert and a sticker. Citizens will find out exactly where they are on the Ten district website. Larger quantities of oils or oils other than plastic packaging can be handed over to the collection yard or during regular mobile collection of hazardous waste.
