Ericsson President: “Portugal is innovative and works as a technology incubator”
The Swedish Ericsson has been in Portugal for almost 70 years and the note about the future of the operation in the country is one of great optimism. Sofia Vaz Pires, the new executive president of Ericsson Portugal, national, in an interview with Expresso, that the country’s delay in the commercialization of mobile generation (5G) is “recoverable”. The DNA of the Portuguese telecommunications industry is one of innovation, and the experience already accumulated in other more advanced countries in the commercialization of 5G guarantees that Portugal will not lose the train, defending. “Investment in Portugal in technologies exists and is growing. And why do I say this? For international markets, Portugal is innovative and works as a technology incubator. Our operators are highly respected abroad precisely for their capacity for innovation and dynamism. And then there is the appetite of Portuguese consumers for innovation. There are markets, such as the English one, which works a lot on the basis of pure connectivity and where there is a lot of competition from the point of view of the megabyte and the minute of voice, while in Portugal the differentiation is based more on innovation. And here the consumer wants more than just connectivity”, explains Sofia Vaz Pires.
