The first Cocoon Hotel outside of Munich is being built in Salzburg: day pass
die Cocoon Hotels have secured their first location in Austria outside the home market of Munich. A city hotel with 119 rooms and an open lobby concept is being built on seven floors at Salzburg Central Station. While the rooms invite you to relax with their warm colors and natural materials, the colorful lobby should not only appeal to hotel guests but also to Salzburg residents.
The former office building was converted into a hotel in cooperation with the Augsburg design office DREIMETA. The property is owned by Cascade Immobilien GmbH, with whom a longer lease agreement has been concluded.
The design concept in Salzburg takes up the thrust of the Cocoon Next flagship hotel currently being built in Munich. Cocoon Next stands for the new generation of the brand. Conceptually, there is a return to the meaning of the term “cocoon”. So every house of the new generation has a butterfly as a godparent. This influences the materiality, color scheme and story. What all houses have in common is the theme of metamorphosis.
“From the mysterious caterpillar to the pupation in the rest room, to the sociable butterfly, travelers experience various inspirations and energies during their stay,” says Lisa Burger, Development Manager at Cocoon.
Johannes Eckelmann, Founder & CEO of Cocoon Hotels, rates the contract in Salzburg as optimal: “With Cocoon Salzburg we have found the perfect location outside of Munich. Thanks to the excellent connection to Munich, our brand WILL take the first step into German-speaking countries. ”Last but not least, the positive development of the Salzburg hotel market for years speaks for the attractiveness of the location, unbroken by the pandemic.
When deciding on the right operator, an individual concept was also important to the owner company of the Austrian Cascade Immobilien GmbH. According to the owner company, they are convinced that they have found the right partner in Cocoon. The planning of the project is supported by the architecture and civil engineering office ACC ZT. The good cooperation with the local authorities enables a quick implementation.
The renovation work on Rainerstraße has already started. The opening is planned for the first quarter of 2022.
