The 2G rule works: More vaccinations than since the summer
The nationwide 2G decision makes the number of those willing to vaccinate skyrocket. In Salzburg – but also nationwide. On Saturday alone, 32,000 vaccinations were carried out quickly, every third of them “first stitches”. Including the booster vaccinations, there were already 213,000 vaccinations this week – as many as last at the beginning of August.
The Salzburg Red Cross registered a strong rush on the vaccination bus stationed at Europark on Saturday: According to the state, 370 people had been vaccinated by the end of the vaccination campaign at 5.15 p.m. Since more than 100 other people who wanted to be vaccinated were waiting at this point in time, they were also immunized. In total, the vaccination bus received more than 470 vaccinations – a record. The previous maximum value was just under 350 vaccine doses.
That is how many vaccinations we normally get in five days
The Red Cross also offered open vaccination options to communities at Salzburg Central Station and in several in Flachgau. In total, around 1355 vaccinations were distributed on Saturday: In the vaccination buses in Oberndorf and St. Georgen there were 152 and 140 respectively. 693 people took advantage of the opportunity in the vaccination streets (418 in Salzburg train station, 275 in Eugendorf). For comparison: In the recent past, around 2000 people from Salzburg had been vaccinated each week. Mainly first doses were administered, occasionally second and third doses were also included.
“According to the broadcast of the State of Salzburg, the Red Cross employees ran smoothly on the vaccination bus and also in the open vaccination streets at the Salzburg train station and in Eugendorf.
Wilfried Haslauer was able to announce on Friday that it was “the top priority to increase vaccination progress and to force the necessary booster vaccinations”. On Saturday the governor added: “I thank the medical profession, the Red Cross and the vaccination coordination of the country that.
Infrastructure for vaccinations is increased
Already in the run-up to the decision on the nationwide 2G regulation, the increase in vaccination of the infrastructure available in the paths was initiated in Salzburg. In addition to the vaccination campaigns already planned, 50 additional nationwide vaccination campaigns have been scheduled, according to a spokesman for the country. The state media center emphasized that one was “always prepared to increase capacities as soon as the vaccination interest increases” and spoke in view of the willingness of the population to vaccinate. In several districts, vaccination streets can now be visited on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays without prior notification. It is still possible to book a vaccination appointment via the usual channels of the Red Cross.
Mostly booster vaccinations nationwide
Most of the vaccinations carried out on Saturday in all of Austria are “booster vaccinations” (17,113), according to figures from the Ministry of Health. The previous vaccination protection was also refreshed here. Another 4,300 people picked up the second sting on Saturday (including some booster vaccinations after a Johnson & Johnson vaccination).
Another 10,488 Austrians got their first vaccination on Saturday. Most of them were in Vienna with 2,245, followed by Carinthia with 2,105, Lower Austria (1,638) and Tyrol (1,460). In Upper Austria, the country with the lowest vaccination coverage in Austria, there were 1,150 first stitches.
However, even before the announcement of the “2G rule” expected from Monday – even before the announcement on Friday – there had been a significant increase in vaccination. Among other things, 17,011 first vaccinations were carried out on Friday. Overall, more vaccinations have been carried out this week than any other week since the first week of August.
At that time there were 262,341 vaccinations, now (without Sunday) the vaccination register records 213,406 vaccinations. A good quarter of these were first vaccinations (62,720) – more than since the end of July. Most of this week, however, on third tricks (113,350).
In total, 65 percent of the population in Austria have a valid vaccination certificate. Vaccination coverage is highest in the districts of Oberpullendorf and Mistelbach at over 74 percent. In contrast, the districts of Braunau with 53 and Spittal an der Drau with almost 56 percent vaccinated population are at the bottom.
