She is thus able to identify any of his non-standard condition and react to it. So far, she has cooperated with Pražská energetika when switching on public lighting.
In the course of 2021, THMP equipped all public lighting switching points with elements that offer complete remote communication, monitoring, management and their connection to the central control system. “There are a total of 1,583 switching points in Prague. They are divided into three circuits, and the switching of the lamp from the Holešovice headquarters thus takes place in three stages. The center of Prague will be the first to light up, always at sunset time of the day. In the end, after six minutes, the wider center of Prague and, as the last, with the distance of another four minutes, the peripheral part of the metropolis, “explained Jan Chabr, City Council Councilor.
The advantage of remote switching directly from the THMP control room is the quick identification of a possible fault at each switching point circuit. “As we promised two years ago, for the first time in the history of the capital, the establishment of a so-called ‘red button’ enabling comprehensive remote control of the entire public lighting system from one place. Until now, we only knew about the operating conditions or, for example, the failure of public lighting, thanks to regular inspections or reports to the public through the mobile application Prague Lights, telephone line or email. Now our dispatchers will register a potential problem themselves in real time and will be able to react promptly to it, “said Tomáš Jílek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of THMP.
To switch to switching on public lighting from the Holešovice headquarters of the THMP gradually from the beginning of this year. In full then from the beginning of November. “Based on the data, we know that the number of public lighting failures from the public has decreased by about 20% this year. Our dispatchers are able to detect faults thanks to monitoring even during the day when the lamps are not lit, and send them to the place of the working group. As part of efficient service, we also work with the history of failures at a given location. In addition, we now monitor justified intrusions into switching points, “explained Libor Fiala, a member of the THMP Board of Directors.
Any request to turn the lights on or off at a time other than sunset is now more flexible. It does not require communication with the Prague Energy Dispatcher, as has been the case so far. This also results in greater safety and speed when working at switching points.
The launch of smart switching points is another step in the smartification of the capital city of Prague under the direction of THMP. This was complemented by the introduction of a smart public clock with remote or intelligent lighting in Prague’s parks, which is equipped with remote control of its intensity and remote communication with the control room.
