Moscow. November 6. INTERFAX – Moscow Washington to increase the number of personnel in consular offices in Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov.
“The Americans just need to increase the number of their personnel in Russia to restore normal consular and visa services. Motivating the current unacceptable practice,” he told Interfax on Saturday.
According to the deputy minister, “we are inviting you to this, but so far there have been no shifts in this direction.”
Commenting on the refusal of the US diplomatic missions to provide large consular services in the Russian Federation, the high-ranking diplomat said: “All this is being done on purpose to cause discontent, cause misunderstanding, and refocus the cutting edge of criticism in the position of the Russian authorities.”
“Although we offer an elementary way to resolve this issue. We are ready to discuss any schemes for agreement, but on a mutual basis.
Russian-American consultations on visa issues will take place in the coming weeks.
“There is no progress and it looks like it is not expected.
At the same time, according to the Deputy Minister, “we have planned further contacts in the coming weeks, focused on the subject of the visa.”
As Ryabkov noted, “we insist that in order to resolve these issues, the Americans must abandon their ultimatum tone and move on to finding real solutions on a mutual basis.”
