Five dead and 1197 infected by Covid-19 in the last 24 hours in Portugal – Society
The number of hospitalized in the ward is 323, less 22 people in the last 24 hours. The number of patients admitted to Intensive Care Units is 62, with four fewer people than this Friday.
There are 1020 more people recovered from the disease compared to yesterday. The number of active cases increased to 33,039, 172 more than on Friday.
The region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo is where there is the biggest increase in cases, 465 more than yesterday. In the North there are over 300 patients, in the Center over 278, in Alentejo 39 and in Algarve over 70.
Three of the five deaths occurred in the Lisbon region, one in the North region and one in Alentejo.
Fatal wounds obtained between 70 and 79 years (4) and over 80 years (1).
Since March 2020, 18,198 people have died and 1,096,534 cases of infection have been recorded.
The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years old (11,874), followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old (3,899).
Of the total number of deaths registered to date in Portugal, 9,541 were men and 8,657 women.
The data released by the DGS also shows another 172 active cases, for a total of 33,039, and that 1,020 people were reported as recovered from covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the national total to 1,045,297 recovered.
In the last 24 hours, the number of contacts under surveillance by the health authorities has risen (plus 795), standing at 24,076.
The new coronavirus has already infected in Portugal at least 588,167 women and 507,614 men, according to data from the DGS, according to which there are 753 cases of unknown sex, which came under investigation, since this information is not based on automatic form. .
Among the new infections, there is an age group from 40 to 49 years old (over 196), followed by 20 to 29 years old (over 188), from 30 to 39 years old (over 156), from 50 to 59 years old (over 137) , from 0 to 9 years old (over 137), from 10 to 19 (over 120), from 60 to 69 years old (over 109), from 70 to 79 years old (over 79) and from over 80 years old (over 75).
In the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 465 new infections were reported, with 423,366 cases and 7,751 dead so far in this geographic area.
The Northern region registered 300 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, totaling 417,730 cases of infection and 5,600 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic crisis.
In the Center region, 278 more cases were registered, totaling 148,340 infections and 3,190 deaths.
These three regions have 87.1% of new cases of infection in Portugal in the last 24 hours.
In Alentejo, 39 new cases of infection were reported, totaling 40,335 infections and 1,056 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Algarve region, this Saturday’s DGS bulletin counts 70 new cases, accumulating 44,388 infections by SARS-CoV-2 and 481 deaths.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded 25 new cases, totaling 12,922 infections and 74 deaths due to the covid-19 disease since March 2020.
In the last 24 hours, and according to DGS, the Azores registered 20 new cases, which raises to 9,453 infections since the beginning of the pandemic and 46 deaths due to the disease.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.
