Corona: Big rush on vaccination bus in Salzburg
The nationwide 2G decision makes the number of those willing to vaccinate skyrocket – the Salzburg vaccination bus record could be broken.
On Saturday morning, the Salzburg Red Cross registered a strong rush for the vaccination bus, which was stationed at Europark all day. Shortly before, the nationwide tightening of the corona prevention measures from next week had been decided by the federal government and the state governors and announced publicly. The Red Cross also offers open vaccination options to communities near Salzburg’s main train station and in several communities in the Flachgau area. On the test roads in the state, there was also a large rush in some cases on Saturday.
Governor Wilfried Haslauer announced yesterday, Friday, that the “top priority is to increase vaccination progress and to force the necessary booster vaccinations”. You now put “all efforts in the booster vaccinations”, which would continue to be offered “low-threshold and nationwide”.
No exact figures are available in the morning, but the Red Cross announced that the daily record of vaccinations distributed in the vaccination bus could be broken. According to the Red Cross, the previous maximum value for all-day use of the vaccination bus, which has been in operation since July, is last Wednesday and is just under 350 vaccination doses, also at Europark. Detailed information was expected towards evening.
Infrastructure for vaccinations is increased
Already in the run-up to yesterday’s decision on the nationwide 2G regulation, the increase in the infrastructure available for vaccination in the paths was initiated in Salzburg. In addition to the vaccination campaigns already planned, 50 additional nationwide vaccination campaigns have been scheduled, as a spokesman for the country announced to the APA. The state media center emphasized that one was “always prepared to increase capacities as soon as the vaccination interest increases” and spoke in view of the willingness of the population to vaccinate. In several districts, vaccination streets can now be visited on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays without prior notification. It is still possible to book a vaccination appointment via the usual channels of the Red Cross.
