Still looking for his first league win of the season, theUSLG Cherbourg-en-Cotentin of Yoann Cabioc’h Tender this evening (8:00 p.m.) to glean a first success with the reception of Toulouse. Maintenance.
“The group is capable of doing much better! “
News: Can the last match against Chartres be considered a benchmark?
Yoann Cabioc’h: Not necessarily, since facing the SIG, we were not far from winning either. We lost this match in 4 minutes, but the rest we were not far. It was not a benchmark match because my group is able to do much better than that. I showed them on video this week all the gifts that had been given. It will be our benchmark match when we have erased these gifts, but not necessarily when we win.
Did we see you very nervous during the match against Chartres?
YC: Not necessarily nervous, but more “intense”, because I saw that we made a lot of gifts. The match was within our reach, we had to take it, and the fact that we don’t take it is frustrating.
Would the analysis of this match have been different with a better situation in the standings?
YC: No, I try to separate the defeats from the content, and focus on what needs to be done. I never talk to girls about the results, but about what we need to improve in our game. I would have seen this match in the same way whether we were at 6-0 or 0-6. I try to stay in there, otherwise, that means that we will let the external elements disturb us. We have to focus on the way we play.
Toulouse, a (very) big piece
You face Toulouse, one of the best teams in the championship, promised to rise …
YC: With Mondeville, it is perhaps the most provided workforce. For us it is a big challenge. We will try to give fewer gifts. Opposite, there is Kalis Loyd, Isabelle Strunc, Joelly Belleka … There are a lot of good players to defend. We will take the right defensive options. We know that victory will come through our defense. We do not have the capacity to put 90 points per game, we try to limit ourselves to conceding only 60. After, we put the rhythm to go to score. It will be a real challenge.
You mentioned a “harder” working method after the match against Aulnoye, is that bearing fruit?
YC: We are not in commando mode either. We try to settle everything point by point, set in motion. The problem is the players’ ability to chain sessions. Several players with pain. I would like to do 9 or 10 sessions a week, but that would be suicidal. This group needs to feel that it can win.
We imagine that a victory will unlock a lot of things for the team?
YC: This victory must come quickly. If she comes tomorrow it’s great, if it was last Saturday it would have been better. We must not add pressure. You have to focus on the content, not the results. It’s easy to say, but hard to do. You have to stay focused despite the outside environment. The catch is that only the result counts, but focusing on it doesn’t help you get there.
