A $ AP Rocky talks about new music and gets locked in Sweden on “Desus & Mero”
The rapper became sincere with Desus & Mero. ASAP Rocky has new music and it’s coming soon. The rapper sat down with Desus and Mero and reflected with the two on his upcoming album, All smiles. The duo asked the question about the project around the 1:38 mark. “I’ve been in the zone,” Rocky said. “Just like trying to isolate yourself from everything, trying to stay focused and try not to be too influenced by everything but still keep track of what’s going on and stuff. I’ve just been quiet.” The album, which has been around for over two years, is almost 90% complete, Rocky said. He described the project as a “ghetto love story” and “much more mature” than anything he had ever done in a interview with GQ. He later told about his experience of being arrested in Stockholm, Sweden in 2019, with the rapper squeezing in some cheeky jokes about the prison’s interior. “It was a little scary because I was not familiar with that country,” he said. “Then their rules are different. No guarantee system, no such thing. That shit was rubbish. But for what it’s worth, the IKEA furniture was fine in there.” Later, the three also dug into Rocky’s drug addiction and how he has since gotten away from substances. Rocky spoke honestly about not letting drugs affect his craft and revealed that he used to long for drugs on stage. The rapper said that he has matured a lot since his teens and has since learned better. “Then I got older and realized, just like you, that Backwoods really makes me so lazy,” Rocky said. “Tobacco makes me addicted. I would rely on tobacco. Once you do, the shit runs.” Earlier this week, Rocky’s debut mixtape came out Live.Love. ASAP celebrated its tenth anniversary with a re-release on streaming platforms that included the song “Sandman”, much to the surprise of fans. See the full interview below.
