Toulouse students future project leaders in the Haute Vallée
Recently, students in master’s degree in engineering and transition of the territories of Toulouse Capitole, supervised by Marina Casula (responsible for training), and by Benoît Bodron (associate researcher), were present in the Audoise Pyrenees, in order to discover the region. economy and its potentialities and to propose projects in phase with the realities of the territory.
After being welcomed by Pierre Castel, mayor of the city, the students joined the Espinet area where they attended various presentations on economic development in the Haute Vallée de l’Aude, the support procedures for holders of projects, the Small Towns of Tomorrow approach, the Act II of the Cathar Country and the forestry charter.
The next morning, they were divided into four groups; each group working on a different project, supported by Julien Peyre (PTCE and Tiers Lieu de Limoux), Sébastien Erpelding (nature activities), Alexandre Laizé (forestry charter) and by Renaud Champredonde (EDF).
In the afternoon, they presented their projects to the jury made up of elected officials from the community of municipalities including Francis Savy, its president.
The first project had for ambition to revitalize the Grand-rue by creating a third place, on the example of that of Limoux, having the originality of being dispersed in the old shops of the street.
The second project proposed to create a furniture renovation and makeover workshop within the framework of the circular economy and the transmission of knowledge; this workshop can also former apprentices.
The third group wanted to develop a project around eco-construction and more specifically wooden construction. The students pointed out a major problem of lack of initial training in this sector and proposed a partnership with the high school for former young people, in order to “ fixer ” In the region.
Finally, the last project aimed to get to know the region and its products while promoting sport and environmentally friendly travel, by offering a weekend of discovery of the region by bike and walk. All travel between local visit points being counted, prizes, in the form of product gifts, distributed to the most deserving participants.
These projects were well received by the jury, who recognized the work of the students, while making them discover the difficulties of implementation. The young people appreciated being put in a real situation, and thereby having a better overview of their future careers.
Perhaps some of these projects can develop and bring dynamism to the Haute Vallée.
