Serralves starts managing and programming the EDP Foundation’s cultural ‘campus’ in Lisbon
The EDP Foundation and the Serralves Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding that knowledge of “a long-term partnership” for the EDP Foundation’s cultural ‘campus’ in Lisbon, which is now managed by Serralves, was announced this Friday.
In a joint statement released by the two entities, which does not specify the duration of the agreement, it can be read that “a partnership will be implemented in the management and programming, by Serralves, of the EDP Foundation’s Cultural Campus in Lisbon, bringing together the MAAT and the Central Tagus to the Contemporary Art Museum, Serralves House and Park and to the Manoel de Oliveira Cinema House”.
“Culture will continue to be one of the pillars of intervention of the EDP Foundation in the community, through the ownership and patronage support of the Cultural Campus in Lisbon, to which it will also remain linked, as well as the cultural mechanism to other institutions and with the continuity of the New Artists Prize and the EDP Foundation Art Grand Prize, references in the Portuguese art scene”, the text adds.
“With this physical presence in Lisbon, the Serralves Foundation will consolidate its national adequacy and reinforce its international affirmation”, reads the statement.
The two foundations emphasize that they are “convinced of the importance for the country of this partnership, which will open new horizons for the knowledge, study, development and dissemination of contemporary art and science within and outside borders and will strengthen the cultural centers of Lisbon and Porto of both”.
