New railway timetable, the dawn commuter train for Venice “disappears”. Trains Belluno reassures: “The race will be confirmed”
There are still about forty days to go before the winter train timetable comes into effect, but many anticipations of the trains that will circulate starting from Sunday 12 December (Monday 13 December first working day) have already been published on the Trenitalia website.
The most attentive observers have noticed a lack in the future “paintings”, namely the current regional train 16848/49 Belluno – Conegliano – Venezia Santa Lucia, which due to its timetable (it leaves from the capital of the Dolomites at 5.36 am and reaches the lagoon terminus at 7.29 am, stopping among the other stations in Vittorio Veneto at 6.13 am and in Conegliano at 6.31 am) is very hungry for students and commuter workers and from those who have to take connections with other trains to the stations of Conegliano, Treviso or Mestre. Furthermore, it is one of the fastest connections between the mountains and the lagoon as the (electric) train covers the route in less than two hours.
In short, traveling comfortably, especially for the people of Belluno, alpagoti and vittoriesi who reach Venice very quickly without ever having to change trains. Comfort that at the moment seems to end on Saturday 11 December, the last day of validity of the current timetable. There is no trace of this connection online from 12 and 13 December onwards, and some commuters have worried.
The association of travelers, commuters, connoisseurs and supporters of local public transport intervened on their Facebook page to reassure them. Trains Belluno, who wrote: “No, the regional 16848/49 will not be canceled from 12 December. Many are asking us this: we have received assurances that this train will appear, together with other connections that now seem to be missing, consulting the timetable in a few weeks ”.
A sigh of relief, therefore, for the many regular and occasional frequenters of this race, mainly from Belluno and Treviso.
