Mr. Mitsotakis: Greece in Central Asia

Greece’s commitment to contribute, both within the EU. as well as through bilateral cooperation, in the modernization of the economic model of the countries of Central Asia, the Prime Minister conveyed Kyriakos Mitsotakis in a videotaped message he sent at the beginning of his work 1st EU Economic Forum – Central Asia, held today in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek.
Representing the Prime Minister, the Undersecretary of State for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Costas Frangogiannis, attended the event and spoke to everyone about creating a healthy economic environment to attract investment in the standards implemented by the Greek government over the past two years.
In his message, the Prime Minister emphasized how the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the urgent need to strengthen regional cooperation at many levels to address the multiple challenges facing modern societies and states (pandemic , climate change, provisions in the energy supply chain, international conflicts, etc.).
In this context, Mr. Mitsotakis stressed the importance of further development and deepening of cooperation between the EU. and Central Asian countries, particularly in the areas of trade, green development and digitization. “It is crucial that we strengthen sustainable policies and support sustainable connectivity in the energy, transport and digitalisation sectors,” he said.
Regarding trade and investment relations, the Prime Minister spoke about the need to deepen relations, using all available tools to overcome obstacles and facilitate and diversify trade and investment flows.
