The first act of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series begins today Friday. Created in 2013 by the Yacht Club de Monaco, this series of monthly regulations has become a tradition in the winter calendar for the good number of international crews. This 9th edition has a very particular aspect for the J / 70 racers since in less than one will take place in Monaco, the world championship of the series.
Unmissable animator of the world of sailing, the Yacht Club de Monaco claims to delight competitors who decide to rig their rigs in the Principality. Once is not custom, the YCM will put the small dishes in the big ones for these MSWS which will undoubtedly attract beautiful people on the occasion of this ninth edition. 14 nationalities, around forty crews are already expected for this first act. From Friday, an easterly flow of 8-10 knots prevailed over the water, conditions which will increase overnight to reach 20 knots southwest on Saturday. Something to warm up for the competitors in the running.
The Germans of Grün or the Americans of Good to Go, will be part of the faithful of the meeting like the talented sailors of Brutus II. Note also the presence of newcomers in the Monegasque ranks with the participation of Moonlight II or the Russian formations of Tenzor Legal and Tenzor Sport.
Loïc Pompée and his men from the Sailing Racing Team will be among the Monegasque teams competing. With their 5th place won at the end of the European Championship of the series, they will put their heart to work to seize the podium this time at home.
The Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series have the particularity of being qualifying events for the Monegasques this year. Indeed, the world championship (October 14 to 22, 2022) organized for the first time by the Yacht Club de Monaco in collaboration with FxPro, will host 120 courses for whom the MSWS are the opportunity to come and test the water and thus perfect their preparation.
The 38th Credit Suisse Primo Cup-Trophée (March 3-6, 2022) will also make up the fourth and final act of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series and will serve as the last major Test Event for competitors before the end of the World Cup.
