In partnership with the Via Democratia association, the European Robert-Schuman center laid the foundations for a joint initiative to launch a “European Route” in the Greater Region on Wednesday in Saarbrücken, Germany. ie Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Lorraine.
“Europe does not live only in Greek mythology or in politics and business in Brussels, Strasbourg, Berlin or Paris”, summarizes Richard Stock, director of the Robert-Schuman Center.
An encyclopedia of little stories
At the same time, he wishes to promote the emergence of a network of “citizen stories” around the Greater Region: “We are opening a platform (website www.e-gr.eu) on which people are invited to testify in order to constitute a sort of encyclopedia of this cross-border territory which was the cradle of European construction ”, detail Richard Stock.
Ultimately, “the route could link Hambach / Neustadt castle to Liège via Pirmasens, Saarbrücken, Metz and Nancy, Luxembourg and Trèves. This road should not only connect cities, but also historical or current events of European importance, as well as people and small towns concerned ”.
For the time being, the partners have just submitted an application for European subsidy within the framework of Interreg microprojects.
