We don’t stop them anymore! The players of Caen Basket Calvados won their fifth victory in a row, this Friday, November 5, 2021, against Boulogne-sur-Mer (78-70). They hit hard both on an accounting level, since they beat an opponent they will probably find in the second phase, and in the psychological aspect. Caen becomes the only leader of its group of N1 since Lyon SO also lost in front of Chartres.

25-14 / 16-13 / 18-16 / 17-27
CAEN: Bracy-Davis 15, Noël 11, Romain 6, Pope 14, Austin 2, Saumont 2, Diamé 14, Ona Embo 8, Wiscart-Goetz 3, Landry NPJ.

Boulogne deprived of bench depth
Once again, Caen demonstrated his defensive intensity against an opponent almost deprived of the bench. Boulogne could only rely on two substitutes, who only played a few minutes. The opposing bench scored two points. That of Caen… 30! Quickly running out of air, the visitors spent almost the entire meeting chasing the score.
The Caen have surfed on a prolific first quarter (25-14, 10 ‘). Kevin Bracy-Davis, with two “and one” in a row, confirmed the good local start (31-17, 13 ′). The CBC insisted on fueling its mattress throughout the first three periods. Olivier Romain, with two award-winning shots in angle 0, seemed to knock out Boulogne (55-37, 27 ′). In the rebound as in the scoring, Bryson Pope was not to be outdone (59-41, 29 ′).
Caen avoids being scared
Caen is heading towards a rather easy victory before Boulogne sounds the revolt in the last ten minutes. The Normans then showed all their commitment in the defensive fight, limiting the damage without removing the danger (66-58, 37 ′). But the money time was going to be in their favor. Gide Noël boiled the Palais des Sports at three points, Bryson Pope drove the point home and the Caen could exult. They get a victory still full of promise.
Double double for Diamé
If the victory is first of all collective as each has played his score with accuracy, Moïse Diamé was the perfect captain in this operation. Off the bench, he scored 14 goals and captured 12 rebounds, participating in the wide Caen domination in this register. Bryson Pope, 14 points, was also valuable, as were Kevin Bracy-Davis (15 points) and Gide Noël (11 points).
