Two people killed after accident at ABBA’s tribute fair in Sweden
Two people have died after an elderly man fell down seven floors of stairs during an ABBA tribute show in Sweden.
As reported by France24The accident occurred on Tuesday at a tribute show called “Thank You For The Music”, which honors the work of ABBA members Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
The older man fell about 30 minutes before the show was to begin and landed on two people below him.
The man, who is believed to have been in his 80s, died along with one of the people he beat, a man in his 60s. As reported by BBC, the police revealed that the survivor is also a woman in her 60s.
– We got a call regarding a person who either jumped or fell from a high altitude inside the concert hall in central Uppsala, says police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin. according to EuroNews.
Klarin went on to reveal that the police had “no reason to believe that a crime was committed in connection with the man’s case.”
That’s what the owners of the concert hall said in a statement that they were “shocked by the tragic event” and would offer counseling and grief resources to those affected. Since the concert was finally canceled, they said that the tickets would be refunded, with performances resuming on Saturday.
At the same time, ABBA themselves have postponed the marketing of their long-awaited comeback tour out of respect for the victims.
“In light of the tragic news at the tribute concert in Sweden last night, we have decided to wait to release our concert trailer until tomorrow.” tweeted the band.
They are set to release their ninth and final studio album Trip on Friday, which will feature their first new material in 40 years.
