The 10th edition of the KIKK festival starts in Namur, Belgium is investing more and more in digital
The KIKK, the digital and innovation festival is back in 2021 in the streets of Namur for its 10th edition. Over the years, the festival has grown and above all has seen its audience evolve. “We feel that the public coming now is not the same as it was ten years ago, it has a different level of education in relation to the issues” explains Gilles Bazelaire, director of KIKK. “We have been a major accelerator created for ten years, even if we are not the only organization working to promote digital cultures. We can see that our territory is rising. Six to seven years ago, when we have Market space at the festival, it was difficult to find Belgian actors. Today, around fifteen stands are from the region “.
An artistic journey to storm the citadel
The KIKK festival is therefore a Market space, the professional space, dedicated to technological innovations. “For example, we have Ivan Poupyrev who is a Google researcher in California who aims to make our entire environment interactive. How do we create interfaces with our clothes, our plants?” detail Gilles Bazelaire.
But the KIKK is also an atypical artistic journey in the city. Each year this course extends, invites itself in unusual places such as churches, and this year, the citadel. Obviously, the Pavilion is involved. It accommodates children’s facilities. More surprisingly, the Théâtre de Verdure is taken over once a day at 2:30 p.m. by an artistic performance, the artist Stephanie Lüning covers the place with colored moss.
