Based on the great success of the Active City program, Prague 5 decided to increase the budget of this project by almost three quarters of a million crowns. Parents of children thus still have the opportunity to apply for a contribution of a thousand crowns for the active spending of their offspring’s free time.

The pilot project was launched by Prague 5 in 2020, when it released 1.2 million crowns from the budget and the annual child allowance was set at 600 crowns.
“At that time, a pandemic jumped in and part of the money was spent on summer children’s camps, suburban camps or sports camps, and it was a huge success. Thanks to the gambling tax for this year, we managed to increase the revenue to two million, and the City Council decided to increase the contribution per child to CZK 1,000. It was exhausted within a fortnight, “says David Dušek, councilor of the Prague 5 district for sports.
The Prague 5 City Council therefore again decided to increase the budget by almost three quarters of a million crowns and to extend the project until the end of the calendar year.
“In my opinion, this is the most transparent way to support children’s sports activities. In today’s difficult times, support is extremely important, “adds councilor Dušek.
The system of the Active City project is simple. On Web sites (HERE) the parent registers the child, chooses the club or association where I would like to send my child to the circle. The city district will then send him support in the amount of 1000 crowns to pay the membership fee.
