Katastroof has placed all albums online since 1979: “Some CDs have been sold out for years” | Antwerp
ANTWERPThe media attention that the band received over the past year proves that the Antwerp cult band Katastroof is still popular. first Stef Bef nl back Zjuul Krapuul got off. With a completely new line-up, Katastroof is now ready to fully focus on the music again. Henceforth, all albums since 1979 have also been viewed on streaming platforms.
The new line-up of Katastroof with original member Jos Smos, son Eli Droge Ke and newcomer Wout Stout is currently working on new music, which is expected in the course of next year. In the meantime, the band’s entire 45-year oeuvre has been posted on streaming services.
“We took matters into our own hands, completely in Catastrophic style, and put the albums directly online,” says Eli Droge Keli. “On digital platforms such as Spotify, only the albums since 2011 were available. Very little for a band that has been around for 45 years and released almost thirty albums. From now on, Foefelen (1979) to Drijendaartigers (2010) can now also be listened to online.”
New generations
“I notice that there is still a lot of traction between fans, with the collection of material”, Wout Stout takes over. “Some CDs have been sold out for years and are nowhere to be found. Now new generations can also get acquainted with the old material of Katastrof.”
“A lot of fans put the songs on YouTube themselves,” says Jos Smos. “In some artists, we’ve never complained about that. On the contrary, it is thanks to them that our music was spread, so that we remained relevant and people come to see our performances.”
