Demolish or repair? Some homesteads have remained part of modern projects
For more than three decades, the Manor House in Prague’s Troja has fallen into disrepair, a complex whose history dates back to the 17th century. It served as an economic background for the local chateau, it also underwent several reconstructions, but in the end it was only a ruin. And to make matters worse, at the beginning of the 21st century, a large body of water erased it from the map of Prague forever.
Fortunately, this did not happen and a complex has grown next to Troja Castle, which can be admired by all visitors to this part of Prague 7, especially those who go to the botanical garden or the Vineyard of St. Clare. It is from here that they will have an impressive view not only of the metropolis, but also of the Chateau Troja Residence, an apartment complex whose centerpiece has been the preserved courtyard of a Renaissance courtyard, around which six renovated historic buildings are situated.
This four-century-old complex is then complemented by seven new buildings. The author of the architectural design of the project, completed last spring, is the Prague architectural studio LOXIA, the developer of Coast Capital Partner (CCP).
Kajetánka
After another residential project, which includes a completely reconstructed Baroque building, we will move from Prague 7 to Břevnov. The Kajetánka residential complex, which has been serving its inhabitants for more than six years, hides in addition to four new buildings inside the homestead of the same name. She was also “born” in the 17th century. After extensive reconstruction, a restaurant was placed in the main historic building, and the entire park was restored, to which the lake returned. This project also bears the handwriting of the LOXIA studio, the developer of the Kajetánka ensemble was the company BOZNER.
Jinonický dvůr
Reconstruction of an immovable cultural monument with the preservation of period architectural elements and building elements is the basic idea of the Jinonický dvor, a residential project built by the developer V Invest on a hill above two ponds. there was an early medieval farmyard in the place, which was supplemented by a manor house at the end of the 16th century, from where a fortress was built at that time.
About a hundred years later, a brewery was built south of the fortress and the courtyard, and later other farm buildings. The area, the core of which is the Renaissance chateau building, was converted into an early Classicist form at the beginning of the 19th century.
Completion of the construction is planned for the turn of 2022 and 2023. The architectural design of the first stage, which has been completed since the end of last year, comes from the pen of the AU Plan studio. Under the second stage, representing the just completed reconstruction of the chateau, the MS Architects are signed.
Nebřenice Chateau
The reconstruction of the agricultural farm, of which the first mentions appear as early as 1437, created a two-storey country chateau in the village of Nebřenice. The face of the originally Baroque building changed during the 19th century in its reconstruction into a Classicist chateau, but the “chateau glory” did not last long and after nationalization in the 1950s, not very happy aspects of its history began to be written. The Nebřenický chateau, owned by the state, gradually fell into disrepair and, in addition, was marked by careless modifications.
At present, this national cultural monument is already in private hands – together with the park, it has become an integral development project Oaks Prague, which is being implemented by the Arendon Development Company in a remote village about 15 kilometers from the southeastern edge of the capital.
The reconstruction of the castle is taking place under the direction of London architect John Pawson.
This historic building should be presented in beauty in March 2022. When fully completed, it will form a cultural background for the inhabitants of Oaks Prague and will also become a golf clubhouse.
