Blood red in Sweden and Denmark
The European Center for Infection Control, ECDC, has released a new version of its weekly “color chart” showing the infection in the European country for the previous weeks.
It has turned blood red. Where the whole of Sweden last week was colored orange, which allows non-vaccinated Norwegians to get out of there without having to test themselves or go into quarantine, there is now only one orange region left (Västerbotten County) – the rest is colored red.
This can make the border control again catch on popular transitions such as at Svinesund or Ørje.
Everything becomes «redder»
Also in Denmark, there is now only one orange region left – Central Jutland. In the Capital Region, the infection is now so high that ECDC has colored the region dark red, which indicates an infection level of more than 500 per. 100,000 inhabitants last 14 days.
And in Norway, only Vestfold and Telemark are orange. The rest are marked in red.
In the main, only Portugal, France and Italy have a sufficiently low level of infection for the non-loose travel quarantine for the non-vaccinated. This also applied to Spain last week, but this week the country is marked in dark gray, which indicates that ECDC has not received data in the last week.
Below you can see the development of the infection in the last two weeks where the latest color chart is on the left:
Orange vs red
When the then government opened Norway earlier this autumn, orange and green countries were equated. At the same time, the requirement for the quarantine hotel was removed.
When a country or territory goes from orange to red, it has no practical significance for those who are fully vaccinated (other than that the risk of infection is higher, of course).
Races after the SAS loss
For non-vaccinated people who come from red countries and areas, however, you must fill in an entry form no earlier than 72 hours before arrival, test yourself at the border and go in 10 days quarantine when you get home. The quarantine can be interrupted with a negative PCR test, which must be no earlier than three days after returning home. These things do not apply if you come from orange country / areas.
If you travel home with a child from a red country, children over the age of 16 must complete the entry form no earlier than 72 hours before arrival. Children who are not fully vaccinated must be tested on arrival, or within 24 hours, if there is no test station at the border crossing. However, children are not allowed in the travel quarantine, but are recommended to take a PCR test three days after returning home.
Now it’s a price war
Will probably change over the weekend
Note that the government / NIPH will present their assessments on Fridays, but that they have to a very high degree harmonized with the ECDC figures in recent months.
Therefore, we must also expect that almost all of Sweden and Denmark will be marked red from night to Monday.
