2931 new infections in Switzerland
Coronavirus – Switzerland – In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 2931 new coronavirus infections were reported to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) within 24 hours on Thursday. At the same time, the BAG registered 6 new and 42 new hospital admissions.
A week ago, the BAG had registered 1792 new infections. There were also 8 new hospitals and 18 new hospital admissions.
For every 100,000 inhabitants, 262.86 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections were reported in the last two weeks. The reproduction number R, which indicates the average number of people infected by an infected person, was 1.24 on October 22nd.
The occupancy rate of the intensive care units in the hospitals is currently 75.5 percent. 11.8 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid 19 patients.
In total, the army pharmacy as the logistics center had received 13,297,425 vaccination doses by last Friday. Of these, 11,137,489 doses were administered on Thursday morning. 63.81 percent of the population are fully vaccinated. So far, 7,136,472 have been issued certificates for fully vaccinated persons.
In the last 24 hours, 31,180 new corona tests were reported to the BAG. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 11,798,770 tests for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of the respiratory disease Covid-19, have been carried out in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as the BAG further announced. In total, there were 884,595 work-confirmed cases of infection with the coronavirus.
33,945 people who have so far been treated in hospital for Covid 19 disease. The number of cases in connection with Covid 19 disease is believed to be 10,895.
Based on the contact tracing data according to the BAG, 11,931 people in isolation and 8517 in quarantine.
Increasing numbers in all areas
In the last week of October, the corona numbers rose significantly in all areas: One and a half times as many infections, hospital admissions and facilities from October 25 to 31 compared to the week before. On the other hand, the number of Covid-19 patients and patients in intensive care units remained at the same level, as stated in the BAG weekly report on Thursday.
The incidence of work-confirmed cases in the cantons and in Liechtenstein was far apart: between 44 in Ticino and 497 cases in Appenzell Innerrhoden per 100,000 inhabitants per week.
