Victor Chirilă, the new ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Romania – Cotidianul
The members of the Government voted for the appointment of Victor Chirilă as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Romania. The decision was approved at the meeting on Wednesday, November 3.
Victor Chirilă was president of the Association for Foreign Policy of Moldova.
In 2019, after the dismissal of the Sandu Government, the one who appointed him ambassador, Victor Chirilă resigned from the position of ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in France.
In 2012, Victor Chirilă was appointed foreign policy adviser to former Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
according to art. 10 of the Law on Diplomatic Service, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representatives, Envoys and Chargé d’Affaires (Permanent) – Heads of Diplomatic Missions – are appointed and recalled by the President of the Republic of Moldova, at the proposal of the Government. Proposals for numbers in these positions are submitted to the Government by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, with Parliament’s foreign policy consultation and European integration.
The diplomatic service has the following general objectives:
a) implementation of the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova and participation in the area of economic interests of the promotion;
b) defense and external promotion of the national interests of the Republic of Moldova;
c) sovereign rights of the Republic of Moldova in international relations;
d) protection of the rights and interests of the Republic of Moldova, of their citizens and of legal persons of the Republic of Moldova according to international practices and within the limits allowed by the norms and principles of international law;
e) promoting bilateral, multilateral political, trade, economic, cultural and scientific relations of the Republic of Moldova with world states, and international organizations, regulating possible political and legal issues with them;
f) training of the diplomatic capacities necessary to anticipate, act and react to international events that would be able to affect the interests of the Republic of Moldova;
g) ensuring the coherence and unity of the activities of the Republic of Moldova abroad;
h) promoting a favorable image of the Republic of Moldova abroad;
i) further promotion of international law;
j) promoting human rights and freedoms;
k) carrying out, through diplomatic methods and means, specific activities on ensuring world and regional peace and security.
