Stefan Bradl to replace Marc Márquez at the GP de Portugal – MotoGP
German Stefan Bradl will again replace Spanish rider Marc Márquez, six-time MotoGP world champion, who will be absent from the Algarve Grand Prix on Sunday, Honda announced this Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Honda test rider will compete in the fifth race in 2021, having replaced Márquez in the first two races of the year, in Qatar, and also lined up in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) and San Marino, both as ‘wild card’ (guest), with the best result being the 11th place in the opening test of the championship, on the Losail circuit.
In 2020, the German was seventh in the Grand Prix of Portugal, held at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), in Portimão, in what was his best classification of the year.
Bradl will team up with Spaniard Pol Espargaro after taking second place at San Marino, his first Honda podium.
“First of all, I hope that Marc is recovering well and can be back on track soon. I’m looking forward to racing again because Portimão is a fantastic circuit, not which was a good result at the end of 2020. Jumping is never easy for the bike, but he’s already had good times this year with the bike, between races and tests, “explained Bradl, quoted by the Japanese team.
The Algarve Grand Prix will be played between Friday and Sunday.
The second passage of the year in the ‘queen’ category of speed motorcycling on the Algarve circuit corresponds to the 17th and penultimate race of the World season, which ends on November 14, in Valencia.
