The ‘number plate case’ of San Marino is moving towards a solution, linked to the traffic ban, introduced by the Safety decree of 2018, for vehicles registered in the Republic of San Marino and driven by residents in Italy for over 60 days and which involved several ‘ frontier workers’. An amendment approved yesterday (Tuesday 2 November) in the Senate, informs the Secretariat of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic, will allow the circulation in Italy of vehicles also driven by residents in the Italian territory for over 60 days with the presence on board of the owner. And the possibility is also established for drivers residing in Italy for over 60 days to drive vehicles registered in the Republic of San Marino, provided that they are connected to companies based in the San Marino territory by an employment relationship or continuous collaboration. “Thanks to constant, skilful and intense diplomatic and institutional work, a particularly sensitive question for workers and citizens of San Marino was therefore concluded”, says the Secretariat of State. The adoption of the measure, which is part of European law, will take place after the return to the Chamber of Deputies and publication in the official gazette.
