Pedestrian crossing project honored in Vaduz – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – Gerold Harder, security delegate of the municipality of Vaduz, wins one of seven regional security prizes of the BFU 2021. He gave Vaduz safe, partly new pedestrian crossings, it says in the broadcast of the BFU.
54 pedestrian crossings in the municipality of Vaduz showed deficits. That was the sobering result of the review of all pedestrian crossings on rural and municipal roads. The mission of Andreas Büchel, Head of Civil Engineering and Gerold Harder from the civil engineering building management in Vaduz was clear: The project manager Büchel and the BFU security delegate Harder could set themselves the goal of dividing all pedestrian crossings according to priorities and redesigning them where necessary. According to the broadcast, the top priority was the pedestrian crossings on the recommended routes to school and those with high traffic frequencies.
Gradually, most of the pedestrian crossings were redesigned: for example, moved, better lit, and even lanes were enlarged to make a pedestrian island possible. The remaining pedestrian projects are still being tackled or are already being planned.
Second security award
For his commitment, Gerold Harder will now receive one of seven BFU safety prizes in 2021. The prize is endowed with 2000 francs for the winning community. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 3rd, in an online event for security delegates from all parts of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
The BFU is awarding the regional security prizes for the second time this year. In future, the award is to be awarded every two years.
