Named player of the month – thinks he is the best in the league on this
For Frisk Asker, October was a mean month. A long list of injuries made it challenging for coach Jan Andre Aasland.
The big bright spot for the Asker club in October was 24-year-old Viktor Granholm’s game.
In nine games, he scored ten goals and five assists.
– He has been a threat almost every time he has been on the ice, says TV 2’s ice hockey expert Bjørn Erevik.
Granholm is chosen by TV 2’s experts as the player of the month in October.
– On the top
– It is very cool, and shows that I have done something right, Granholm says.
He has been rewarded with a place in Petter Thoresen’s national team squad who will travel to Denmark next week.
The national team manager uses big words about what he thinks is Granholm’s top competence.
– He has a very good shot. In Norway, he is at the top of fast wrist shots and shooting power, says Thoresen.
Erevik also uses big words about the shot for the Frisk Asker player.
– He has perhaps the Fjordkraft league’s best wrist shot. It’s hard, fast and a little covert, he says.
– My cutting-edge expertise
Granholm agrees with the national team manager and experts that the shot is his greatest strength on the ice.
– I know that it is my top competence, he says.
The fresh Asker player has put in a lot of work to get better at shooting.
– I’ve always been happy to do it. When I was younger, I strolled around the Jar course and in the garden a lot and practiced shooting. It has yielded results. It’s something I’ve had fun with, he says.
The national team player’s hardest shot this season came against Storhamar. Then Granholm fired at 125.4 km / h.
Dreaming of abroad
The 24-year-old is looking forward to traveling to Denmark with the Norwegian national team. It gives motivation to be selected.
He also keeps a close eye on the decision to be made regarding a possible Olympic ticket to Norway.
– To be able to try oneself in an Olympics would have been very cool. I must try to impress in the future so that it may be possible to be taken out, he says.
Granholm is in its first of that contract year in its new contract with Frisk Asker. He is fully focused on performing for the club, but the national team player is of course fully aware that he will continue, as now there will be offers from major leagues.
– It would have been great to one day get out and be able to make a living from ice hockey. If it is to be relevant, it must be an offer from a league that is better than the Norwegian and where I think I can thrive. It’s not something I focus on now, he says.
Soon he has a perfect showcase for major leagues. On November 11, he will be in action for the national team. Norway-Latvia will play on 11 November. Denmark-Norway will play until later, 13 November.
