The provision of affordable housing for students is intended to take pressure off the housing market in the state capital. The city of Innsbruck has therefore set itself the goal of creating at least 1,700 new home places by 2024. The Innsbruck City Senate set the course for a new campus in Mariahilf with 125 rooms in its meeting on Wednesday. The project “Campus Frau Hitt” provides for a renovation and expansion of the dormitory of the college of missionary priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Frau-Hitt-Strasse. “The already renovated old building is to be further developed in two steps: on the one hand, the 60s building is to be renovated and rented, and on the other, a third building is to be built,” explains Mayor Georg Willi (Greens). The project implementation as well as the financing is carried out by the Innsbruck real estate company IIG. The municipal council still has to give the green light for the project.
Mayor Georg Willi sees himself confirmed by a change in city law, which the city senate also had on Wednesday’s agenda. As is well known, there was a political argument in the summer over the question of whether to create a Double budgets is covered by municipal law or not. “In interpreting the city law, I took the position that § 57 does not provide for the creation of a double budget, and I rejected a request from several parties to draw up a double budget.” The state’s supervisory authority decided differently, a double budget for the years 2022 and 2023 was commissioned by the local council. Now an amendment to paragraph 57 is proposed, which is to be extended by the following sentence: “At the same time, the mayor can also submit the draft estimate for the next financial year to the municipal council.” a double budget. “
There is good news for Innsbruck’s restaurateurs and all fresh air fans: The Guest gardens May stay open again today in the winter months. The city senate unanimously decided that for all those operators with a currently valid garden lease, this will also apply in the months of December 2021 and January 2022. “We want to support Innsbruck’s restaurateurs – especially since the positive Corona cases are rising again – and give guests the opportunity to linger in the fresh air,” says Mayor Georg Willi (Greens). This does not apply to those areas where the Christmas market takes place. Vice Mayor Hannes Anzengruber (ÖVP) also declares that the patio heaters can also be used throughout the entire outdoor dining season.
Incidentally, the restaurant “PM Innsbruck” in Mariahilfstrasse is getting a new guest garden – this was also decided unanimously by the city senate. (dt)
