Bad weather: Naples; strong wind, difficulty docking by ship – Campania

Tugboat intervenes. Dozens of passengers in the terminal

(ANSA) – NAPLES, NOVEMBER 3 – Bad weather slowed the docking – also causing moments of tension among passengers – in the port of Calata di Massa in Naples of the Driade ship that left Capri with the 9:40 run. The over 100 passengers on board went ashore at 12:30 after a long crossing between Capri and Naples characterized by strong wind and very rough sea. Upon entering the port of Naples the gusty wind prevented the ship from being able to dock and made it ‘scull’, hindering the maneuver. Fear of the arrival of passengers, some of whom feared a collision with the quay or with the other ships moored, the situation was unlocked only with the tugs. The vehicles turned the ship with their on-board equipment and tow ropes and dragged the Driade to a point in the port close to the wind, thus allowing the closing door to be opened and allowed to disembark.

In the terminal there are ten passengers who, waiting for the weather to improve, cannot leave The severe bad weather that hit the Gulf of Naples and Capri that was battered all night by wind and rain continues ; the connections with the mainland are guaranteed by the Caremar ships since the weather and sea conditions do not allow navigation to fast vehicles such as hydrofoils and catamarans.
