The Sweden coach gives an injury update about Victor Lindelof
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof was one of the prominent players last weekend when he helped his team to a 3-0 victory over Tottenham, a result that turned out to be Nuno Espirito Santos’ last match as head of the London club.
The former Benfica defender has been a mainstay of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team for the past two seasons but has seen his minutes limited this season, partly due to the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
However, he lined up with the Frenchman and Harry Maguire against Tottenham but will miss tonight’s Champions League match against Atalanta due to a blow to training.
The question is not considered serious and with next week’s international break just around the corner, Lindelof was called up to Sweden’s vital World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain, which is confirmed by Sweden’s official Twitter account.
Sweden coach Janne Andersson has now left an update about his captain and insists that it is only a minor problem.
“I talked to Victor (Lindelof) today,” Andersson told The football channel. “He was not worried about this (the injury), it is a minor injury. You never know but that conversation felt good.”
