India, China and a number of other partners of Russia may become the first buyers of the new generation S-500 anti-aircraft missile system. This was announced on November 2 by the director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugaev.

“When this system is delivered to the Armed Forces in the required volume, it will also be possible to export it. We see partnerships as future prototypes for the latest system. The question is when this will happen, time will tell, “he said in an interview.RBK“.

According to Shugaev, India has already signed a contract for the supply of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from the Russian Federation and by the end of the year India will receive the first division of this system.

The FSMTC director also said that the order is showing “a very keen interest in the purchase of the S-400.”

Earlier, on September 16, the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile systems began to enter the Russian Armed Forces. In July, the Ministry of Defense reported that at the Kapustin training ground, the Bright military conducted test firing of the S-500 air defense system.

On August 23, Vyacheslav Dzirkaln, Deputy General Director for Foreign Economic Affairs of the Almaz-Antey East Kazakhstan Concern, announced that the first batch of S-400s would be delivered to India by the end of 2021. In February 2020, the Russian Federation began production of the S-400 for India.

The contract for the supply of the complexes Moscow and Delhi was signed in October 2018. Five regiments of the latest air defense systems will cost New Delhi $ 5.43 billion (more than 3 trillion rubles). This deal was named the largest in the history of Rosoboronexport.

The S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system can destroy modern air attack targets, including ballistic missiles. The detection range is up to 600 km, the radius of the cover zone is 400 km. The S-400 complex was bought from Russia by China, Turkey and India.

The S-500 Prometheus (ROC Triumfator-M) belongs to a new generation of ground-to-air air defense systems. It is a versatile long-range and high-altitude intercept complex with an increased anti-missile defense potential that is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. The system hits not only ballistic, but also aerodynamic targets, as well as cruise missiles. The radius of destruction of the S-500 is about 600 km.
